Acceptable Use Policy

Rules governing how you may use the Wyzie Subs API and related services.

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") supplements and is incorporated into the Terms of Service and governs your use of the Wyzie Subs API, this website, and all related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to comply with this AUP. Wyzie ("we", "us", or "our") reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time by posting an updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.

2. Lawful Use Only

You may only use the Service in compliance with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service and any data obtained through the Service conforms to all laws that apply to you, including but not limited to copyright law, data protection and privacy law, export controls, and consumer protection regulations.

3. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use the Service to engage in, facilitate, or support any of the following activities:

3a. Intellectual Property Violations

  • Distributing, reproducing, or publicly displaying copyrighted subtitle content in a manner that infringes the rights of the copyright holder.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing API responses or subtitle data for commercial gain without authorization.
  • Creating derivative works from subtitle content in violation of applicable copyright law.
  • Removing, altering, or obscuring any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices contained in or on the Service.

3b. System Integrity & Security

  • Attempting to circumvent, disable, or interfere with rate limits, authentication mechanisms, access controls, or any other security or technical measures of the Service.
  • Reverse-engineering, decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise attempting to derive the source code or underlying algorithms of the Service.
  • Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of the Service or any system or network connected to the Service without express written authorization.
  • Introducing malicious code, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other disruptive technologies into the Service or any system connected to the Service.
  • Interfering with, disrupting, or creating an undue burden on the Service's infrastructure, servers, or networks, including denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attacks.

3c. API Key Abuse

  • Sharing, publishing, or distributing your API key to unauthorized third parties, whether publicly or privately.
  • Using another user's API key without their explicit authorization.
  • Creating multiple free-tier accounts to circumvent request limits or other restrictions.
  • Using automated processes to generate accounts, API keys, or registrations (bot abuse).

3d. Fraudulent & Deceptive Conduct

  • Providing false, misleading, or inaccurate information during registration, payment, or any interaction with the Service.
  • Impersonating any person or entity, or falsely stating or otherwise misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Initiating fraudulent or bad-faith chargebacks or payment disputes to obtain the Service without paying.
  • Using the Service to perpetrate fraud, phishing, or social engineering against any third party.

3e. Harmful & Abusive Content

  • Using the Service to distribute, transmit, or facilitate content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Using the Service to stalk, intimidate, or harass any individual.
  • Using the Service to distribute unsolicited mass communications (spam) or to facilitate phishing campaigns.

3f. Excessive or Abusive Usage

  • Making API requests at a volume or frequency that materially exceeds reasonable use patterns or that degrades the Service for other users.
  • Scraping, bulk-downloading, or systematically extracting data from the Service beyond normal API query usage.
  • Using the Service for benchmarking or competitive analysis without our prior written consent.

4. Monitoring & Enforcement

We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to monitor your use of the Service for compliance with this AUP. We may investigate suspected violations using technical means, including but not limited to reviewing API usage logs, request patterns, and account metadata. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that a violation of this AUP has occurred, we may take any of the following actions without prior notice:

  • Issue a written warning via the email address associated with your account.
  • Temporarily suspend your API key and access to the Service.
  • Permanently revoke your API key and terminate your access to the Service without refund.
  • Remove or disable access to content that violates this AUP.
  • Report the activity to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
  • Pursue any available legal remedies, including claims for damages and injunctive relief.

5. No Limitation of Other Remedies

The enforcement actions described in this AUP are in addition to, and do not limit, any other rights or remedies available to Wyzie under the Terms of Service, at law, or in equity. A failure to enforce any provision of this AUP shall not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision or any other provision in the future.

6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Wyzie and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of this AUP or your use of the Service in a manner not authorized by this AUP or the Terms of Service.

7. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any activity that violates this AUP, please report it immediately to [email protected]. When reporting, please include as much detail as possible, including relevant API keys, URLs, timestamps, and a description of the suspected violation. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

8. Relationship to Terms of Service

This AUP is part of and subject to the Terms of Service. In the event of a conflict between this AUP and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall control to the extent of the inconsistency. Capitalized terms used but not defined in this AUP have the meanings assigned to them in the Terms of Service.
